Bed bugs
Bed bugs are not a sign of an unclean home. They travel on luggage, clothing, second-hand furniture and shared laundry, and they turn up in the tidiest houses, hotels and apartments. They feed at night and spend the rest of the time hidden in seams, frames, joints and cracks close to where people sleep.
What to look for
Small dark spots on sheets, mattress seams and box springs. Shed skins around the bed frame and headboard. Bites appearing overnight, often in a line or cluster. Live insects in mattress seams, along baseboards, behind headboards and in the joints of nearby furniture.
