Mice and rats

Mice are small enough to pass through openings most people would never think to check, and they are drawn indoors as temperatures drop. Rats need slightly larger gaps but cause more damage once inside. Both gnaw on packaging, insulation and wiring, and both contaminate the surfaces they travel across.

Signs of rodent activity

Droppings along walls, in cupboards or under sinks. Gnaw marks on food packaging, boxes or wiring. Scratching sounds in walls and ceilings, usually at night. Greasy rub marks along baseboards where the same route is used repeatedly. A musky smell in an enclosed space such as a cupboard, attic or crawl space.
